Animal hospital field trip!

Summer is in full swing, and we joined some LEAP friends at the Lake Forest Animal Hospital for a tour.  The kids were so excited!

Our tour guide showed us all the rooms in the small hospital.
Here, in the specimen room, she showed us
an infected dog uterus that was removed and
put in a jar (Ewwww).

And here, a tapeworm removed from
a dog's intestines!
I did not know flea bites transmitted
tapeworms.  :(

The x-ray table,
the largest animal it can hold is 200 lbs!
And the smallest is as small as a hamster or guinea pig.

An x-ray of the bowels of a constipated dog.  :(

Showing us pictures of specimens seen under a microscope.

 Doggie getting sheared.

 The operating room!!

 Some of the gang.
:)

When we got home, Emilie wanted to see what a dog skeleton looked like.
So we printed off pics from the internet and compared them to a human skeleton.
She also summarized her trip.
I dictated and she copied.
